Fly Away - Paper Bird Tutorial

Way back on January 21,  I shared my winter mantel.

At the time I promised to share my template for the three dimensional flying birds.  I must admit that I did forget, but a reader was kind enough to e-mail me with a reminder!

Here is the template for the 1 Corinthians script that I printed on both sides of 8 1/2 x 11 ivory card stock.

This is the template for the bird, two per 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.  You can use the 1 Corinthians script on card stock like I did for this project or any card stock as long as it is the same color on both sides.

Once you cut out the bird pieces from your card stock, fold the wing and tail pieces as shown.

Glue the tail piece to the bird body first and then add the wings.  Once the wings are glued in place, you will want to fold them out so it looks like the bird is flying.  Here is the finished bird.  You can see how it comes together.  For this project, I used tiny craft clothes pins glued to one side of the bird to attach it to a branch.  I have also made these birds and hung them to a branch with a fine cord.  Either way, they look great!

I'm sure I'll be using these little birds more in my spring decorating and hope you do too!

Just a reminder, my giveaway for the "So Happy Together" Pillow is still going on!  Follow the link below to enter!
